China accounts for about 70% of global drone patent applications

    China has been the world's largest exporter of civil drones for several years, holding about 70% of global patent applications in the drone sector, according to the "China Civil Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Development Report 2023-2024" released on October 26. The report indicates that China's drone industry continues to grow, driven by market demand. By the end of 2023, over 2,300 companies were developing civil drones in China, with more than 1,000 models in mass production. In 2023, China delivered over 3.17 million civil drones, with the industry's value reaching 117.43 billion RMB, a 32% year-on-year increase. The report also identifies key bottlenecks in drone development, including battery endurance, new material applications, and sky-ground connectivity. It highlights promising future prospects in high-performance battery research, new energy utilization, and drone identification technology.
