On August 27, during the IP Week @ SG 2024, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) launched an early release from its 2024 edition of "Global Innovation Index (GII)." It shows that China has once again secured the top spot globally in the number of the GII top-100 S&T Cluster, marking the second consecutive year it has held this position. China now has 26 clusters in the global top 100, up from 24 last year. The United States follows with 20 clusters, Germany has 8, and both India and South Korea have 4 each. It also notes that 7 of the world's top 10 S&T clusters are located in Asia, with the remaining 3 in the United States. Japan's Tokyo-Yokohama leads as the largest global S&T cluster, followed by China's Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou. Beijing has risen to take the third position. In sixth place, San Jose–San Francisco, California is the leading US cluster.
