Profile
Mr. Shen received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Material Science and Engineering in 2005, and a Master of Engineering degree in Information Functional Materials in 2008 from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. During his university studies, he gained in-depth knowledge in the fields of materials, chemistry, electronics/photoelectronics, and semiconductors.
Mr. Shen also completed patent practice training in China and received training on patent translation from RWS of the UK.
Since joining Kangxin Partners, P.C. in 2008, Mr. Shen has provided patent drafting, prosecution, re-examination, invalidation, and administrative litigation services to a variety of foreign clients. He currently focuses on patent applications in various industries, particularly in the areas of battery, optics, semiconductors, and displays, and has successfully handled hundreds of patent cases for foreign clients, demonstrating his expertise in developing patent application strategies in China.
In addition, Mr. Shen also serves as a lecturer, providing lessons on China's Patent Law and patent practice at Kangxin's Training Center and the Intellectual Property Training Center of China, and serves as a lecturer in the Intellectual Property Protection Service Expert Database (training) of the Beijing Patent Attorneys Association. He has also given lectures on Chinese patent law, patent prosecution practice, and patent infringement litigations to big companies as well as Fortune Global 500 Enterprises such as SONY, SIEMENS, and HYUNDAI.
In 2014, Mr. Shen became the head of the Chemistry and Biology Division of the Foreign Patent Department, and earned his PMP (Project Manager Professional) certificate.
Mr. Shen was instrumental in the development of the "Zhinanzhen (Intellectual Property Compass)" project of IP Protection Division of CNIPA, aimed at helping Chinese applicants secure overseas IP protections, and led the drafting of Overview of the Brazilian IP Environment, Overview of the Australian IP Environment, Guidelines for Brazilian Patent Applications, and Guidelines for Australian Patent Applications.
Mr. Shen has been invited to speak on the enforcement of patents in China and Chinese patent practice at international conferences such as the Annual BPIP (Best Practices in Intellectual Property) Conference in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Patent School Skolkovo in Moscow, Russia; and has also participated in multiple international conferences, such as INTA annual meeting and BIO convention.
