Mr. Ono served in the Intellectual Property Department of Sony Corporation beginning in 1968. With the continuous expansion of Sony Corporation, Mr. Ono was promoted to serve as the Director of the Intellectual Property Department. During these years, Mr. Ono concurrently served as Executive Council Member of the Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA), overseeing the council’s operations. He holds a unique perspective on solving intellectual property disputes between enterprises and at the same time, he proposes strategies to be implemented in relation to intellectual property management.
Mr. Ono is familiar with Chinese intellectual property laws and regulations as he has been handling Chinese patent issues since 1985 when Chinese Patent Law was first published. He was dispatched to Beijing for two and half years at the end of 2002, as Director of the Intellectual Property Department for the Chinese subsidiary of a Japanese company.
