In order to thoroughly implement the People’s Mediation Law of the People’s Republic of China and the provincial and municipal plans for intellectual property (IP) protection, Ankang City in Shaanxi Province is strengthening its IP protection system, improving diversified mechanisms for resolving IP disputes, and promoting efficient dispute resolution. The aim is to optimize the business environment and protect the legitimate rights and interests of market entities. To this end, the Ankang Municipal Administration for Market Regulation, together with relevant units, is actively preparing to establish the “Ankang Intellectual Property Dispute People’s Mediation Committee.”
On August 29, officials from the Municipal Administration for Market Regulation, the Ankang Intermediate People’s Court, the People’s Procuratorate, the Bureau of Justice, the Public Security Bureau, as well as representatives from several law firms and third-party agencies, gathered to discuss matters related to forming the citywide IP Dispute People’s Mediation Committee.
The meeting deliberated on documents including the Proposal for Establishing the Ankang Intellectual Property Dispute People’s Mediation Committee and the Working Rules for People’s Mediation of Intellectual Property Disputes in Ankang. Discussions focused on the guiding principles, organizational structure, main responsibilities, and mechanisms for linking mediation with enforcement and judicial procedures, as well as inter-departmental coordination processes. Participants reached consensus on these issues.
It was decided that preparatory work for the committee’s establishment would begin immediately, with the goal of formally launching and unveiling the committee in October. By the end of the year, the city aims to have the mediation of intellectual property disputes fully underway.
