To implement the outcomes of the Third Belt and Road Intellectual Property High-Level Conference, the "Belt and Road" Patent Acceleration Pilot Program will officially launch on January 20, 2025, lasting for two years until January 19, 2027. After the pilot program starts, eligible applicants from participating countries can submit requests for accelerated patent examination to the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) in accordance with the process outlined in the “Procedures for Requesting Accelerated Patent Examination under the Belt and Road Patent Acceleration Pilot Program."
The "Belt and Road" Patent Acceleration Pilot Program, announced by CNIPA during the Third Belt and Road Intellectual Property High-Level Conference held in September 2024, is a business cooperation initiative designed to provide faster patent examination for applicants from eligible Belt and Road countries. According to the "Memorandum of Cooperation between the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office on the Belt and Road Patent Acceleration Pilot Program," Turkey's Patent and Trademark Office is the first office to participate in this initiative. Going forward, CNIPA plans to deepen cooperation with the patent offices of more Belt and Road countries in the field of patent examination, contributing to high-quality collaboration under the Belt and Road initiative with a stronger intellectual property foundation.
