From October 7 to 10, 2026, the World Congress of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) was held at Congress Center Hamburg in Germany. As a professional service provider with more than 30 years of experience in the intellectual property sector, Kangxin sent a team of experts to attend the congress, exchange practical experience with intellectual property professionals, corporate representatives and industry peers from around the world, and explore new opportunities for international cooperation.

01 Focusing on Emerging Issues and Discussing the Harmonization of International Rules

Founded in 1897 and headquartered in Switzerland, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) is one of the world’s long-established international non-governmental organizations in the intellectual property field. Its annual World Congress serves as an important platform for intellectual property practitioners from different countries to exchange professional insights and discuss legal practice, promoting international exchange and harmonization in intellectual property law and practice through panel discussions, plenary sessions and various networking activities.

The study topics at this year’s congress covered divisional patent applications and double patenting; the application of parody and freedom of expression as defenses to trademark infringement; territorial considerations and geo-blocking in online infringement; and dynamic blocking injunctions. Focusing on common challenges faced by different countries and regions in intellectual property protection practice, the congress provided an important platform for participants to exchange professional views and explore the harmonization and development of international intellectual property rules.

During the congress, Kangxin’s expert team drew on Chinese intellectual property practice to exchange professional views with peers from different countries on the latest developments in these topics. Through discussions in the exhibition area and bilateral meetings, the team engaged in in-depth exchanges with representatives of intellectual property firms and legal organizations from Europe, the Americas, Asia and other regions. They shared experience on topics including intellectual property protection practice in China, cross-border intellectual property portfolio development and enforcement needs for businesses, and explored specific areas of practice such as overseas patent portfolio development and cross-border dispute resolution, further strengthening mutual understanding and exploring opportunities for international cooperation.
