On October 29^th, 2019, at the invitation of Dalian University’s School of Information Science and Technology, Kangxin Managing Partner Samson Yu delivered a lecture for the “Alumni Support Program”.

Mr. Yu shared details of his rich university and career experiences, detailing the realizations he has come to over his years in industry.  Sharing his story, Mr. Yu discussed his university life, career choices, working and living abroad, along with his decision to return to China. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining a positive outlook on your career, Mr. Yu reminded the alumni to constantly strive to improve their skills and knowledge base, seek out training opportunities, and if the environment within a workplace cannot be changed then strive to change the attitude of those within said workplace.

Mr. Yu then went to share his experiences from working in Russia and the United States, sharing with the alumni the lessons he learnt through experiencing different working cultures and the importance of cross cultural communication within today’s global economy.  

Combining his years of experience in intellectual property and corporate management, he instructed the alumni on the developments of artificial intelligence and the affect it will have going forward, pointing toward the role of smart technology within the IT industry. Mr. Yu also went on to discuss the importance of informatics, advising alumni how best to “future-proof” themselves within this rapidly developing industry.

Finally, Mr. Yu went on to summarize his lecture with four points for the alumni: first you must be truthful and pragmatic, to be honest; the second is to learn to think independently and cultivate critical thinking; the third is to read thousands of books, travel thousands of miles, to learn through experience; the fourth is to learn self-discipline, and pay attention to physical exercise.

Mr. Yu’s in-depth teaching style was deeply appreciated by the students, opening the door to critical discussion concerning informatics and aritificial intelligence, and the role they will play in industries going forward. The response to this lecture was enthusiastic, with the students expressing their commitement to constantly pursue professional development and training. Mr. Yu ending his lecture by sharing his belief in the collective students and alumni to demonstrate their talents going forward in their respective careers.

Kangxin remains focused on education and the development of knowledge and talent. The “Kangxin Scholarship” has been established at Dalian Maritime University to support the students' scientific and technological innovation work.
