Mr. Freder Shen is currently the Deputy Manager of the International Patent Department at Kangxin. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Material Science and Engineering and a Master of Engineering degree in Information Functional Materials, both from Beihang University (formerly Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics).
Since joining Kangxin in 2008, Mr. Shen has delved deeply into the fields of chemistry and various cross-disciplinary areas. He is highly proficient in patent drafting, translation, and office action responses, and has accumulated extensive practical experience in patent re-examination, invalidation, and administrative litigation. With a rigorous and pragmatic approach, he has long provided professional, full-lifecycle patent services for Fortune Global 500 companies and leading domestic and international enterprises, earning high levels of trust and recognition from his clients.
In the realm of knowledge dissemination and professional development, Mr. Shen serves as a distinguished lecturer for Kangxin and the Intellectual Property Training Center of China, where he teaches core courses on China's Patent Law, office action responses, and patent attorney qualification examination training. He has also been invited by the All-China Patent Attorneys Association (ACPAA) to serve as a lecturer for the training of new patent attorneys and has frequently delivered specialized lectures on Chinese patent law, prosecution practice, and infringement litigation to major global corporations.
Regarding Professional Qualifications, Mr. Shen obtained his PMP® (Project Management Professional) certification in 2014, demonstrating outstanding capabilities in project management and team coordination.He also served as the Director of the Quality Committee, dedicated to the continuous optimization of the firm-wide service quality control system. In this role, he refined internal practice standards, led the resolution of quality disputes in complex cases, and comprehensively enhanced the team's professional service standards through a full-process supervision mechanism.
Regarding International Cooperation, Mr. Shen played a pivotal role in 2016 in the "Zhinanzhen (Intellectual Property Compass)" project initiated by the IP Protection Department of CNIPA. He led the drafting of critical practical guides, including the Overview of the Brazilian IP Environment, Overview of the Australian IP Environment, and their respective patent application guidelines. Furthermore, as an esteemed speaker on the global stage, he has frequently shared insights on the status of patent protection and practice in China at international conferences and maintains an active presence in prestigious global IP events such as INTA, BIO, AIPPI, and FICPI, dedicated to fostering deep exchange and cooperation within the international IP community.
