
Samson G. Yu
Mr. Yu serves as the Strategic Managing Partner, Patent Agent and Trademark attorney at Kangxin and Judicial Appraiser of the People's Republic of China. With over 40 years of experience in intellectual property (IP) practice, he has conducted in-depth research on domestic and international IP laws as well as related international conventions. He has applied this knowledge extensively in a variety of cases, gaining rich experience and unique insights in patent and trademark registration, as well as infringement litigation. Mr. Yu also has significant hands-on experience in IP registration and dispute resolution across major foreign jurisdictions. Additionally, he is highly skilled in corporate organizational structure, management, quality control, and efficiency improvement, both in theory and practice. With the advancement of emerging technologies and their commercial applications, Mr. Yu was among the first in the industry to propose the "3I Fusion" concept, integrating IP (Intellectual Property), IT (Information Technology), and AI (Artificial Intelligence). He introduced an IP service ecosystem supported by A (AI), B (Block chain), C (Cloud Computing), and D (Data), based on industry standards. Through this system, he has driven continuous innovation to enhance efficiency, quality, business management, and business models within the traditional IP industry by leveraging new technologies.
Mr. Yu has provided IP strategy design and consulting services for several renowned domestic companies. He has assisted Chinese enterprises in responding to U.S. ITC 337 patent litigation, conducted IP due diligence for Chinese companies involved in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and served as Deputy Leader of the research group on "Legal Risk Management for Overseas Investment and Operations by Group Companies" organized by the China Group Companies Promotion Association. In this capacity, he proposed risk control mechanisms and frameworks for large state-owned enterprise groups. His clientele primarily includes domestic and international Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Yu has published numerous articles on IP practice, strategy, and enterprise management in professional IP academic journals at home and abroad, including An Analysis of Process Management in Patent Agencies, On Litigation of Patent Ownership in Employee Inventions, The Significance and Implementation of Information Technology in Patent Agencies, Research on Risk Management in International IP, and Exploring the Response of Chinese Enterprises to International Patent Risks. He has also authored professional training materials for patent attorneys, including Patent Civil Litigation and the Guidelines for Patent Agency Services (2009 and 2014 editions) published by the All-China Patent Attorneys Association. He contributed to the "Going Global" practical guides organized by the Coordination Division of the National Intellectual Property Administration, overseeing the final review of U.S. Patent Application Practices and Indian Patent Application Practices. Mr. Yu served as the editor-in-chief of Kangxin's publication PCT Practical Manual, leading the editorial team in compiling, editing, reviewing, and publishing the book, which was launched in January 2015 to assist Chinese enterprises in using patent strategies to establish overseas market presence and seek effective patent protection.
Mr. Yu has been invited to deliver keynote speeches at numerous international conferences. He has also been appointed as a Visiting Professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University Law School, a Special Researcher at the Intellectual Asset Management Research Center of China University of Political Science and Law, a keynote speaker at the Information Academic Forum of Dalian Maritime University’s School of Information Science and Technology, a Distinguished Professor and Graduate Advisor at Shenzhen University’s Intellectual Property Academy, and a Guest Lecturer at Peking University Law School.
